Is there enough work available for a newly qualified driving instructor?

If you are a well trained driving instructor, have the knowledge and ability to teach to a reasonable standard, then you are

in the same position as most other driving instructors. There are pupils that choose their instructor by recommendation,

but the healthy percentage that don’t, are just as likely to choose you as any other ADI. In no time at all, you’ll be the

one getting recommended.

The Road Traffic Act is being constantly monitored to ensure that the ‘L’ driver test meets the needs of our ever increasing

traffic conditions and road safety – this leads to a more demanding driving test, requiring more training / lessons per pupil.

Two million people take a car driving test every year. The pass rate is 44%, so the average learner takes more than two tests

before passing. The current average cost of a lesson is approximately £21 to £28. The average learner has 52 hours of lessons

and spends £1,500 learning to drive.

The bottom line is, the more you impress your pupils, the more work you will get.

Becoming a driving instructor allows flexible working options - the choice is yours.
